I've now got access to a i386-pc-solaris2.11 box which also fails to bootstrap. On this system I'm configuring GCC to use the GNU assembler and Sun linker. I've also by trying this configuration on the i386-pc-solaris2.10 machine I normally use and the bootstrap fails.
