We got the "x86_64-suse-linux-ar: Command not found" error when building
gcc-4.5.1 on SUSE 10.2 with the following configure options:

"--prefix=/remote/depotsrc/depotsrc/suse64-2.6/local_install/gcc-4.5.1
--enable-bootstrap --enable-threads=posix --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran
--enable-checking=release --enable-ssp --disable-libssp --with-system-zlib
--enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-libstdcxx-allocator=new
--without-system-libunwind --with-cpu=generic --host=x86_64-suse-linux"


The Makefile shows:

AS = x86_64-suse-linux-as
AR = x86_64-suse-linux-ar
