At line 5520:
if (!sym->attr.pointer
&& sym->as
&& sym->as->type != AS_ASSUMED_SHAPE
&& !sym->attr.allocatable)
where the test for sym->as has been added, does the job.
I have included this in the fix to PR39632/3, so that the merge goes OK.
