This ^ was only in my first iteration, and I've omitted it in the following ones. My last (unsuccessful) attempt was a plain: ../gcc-4.4.0/configure --prefix=/localdata --program-suffix=-4.4.0 --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran --with-gmp=/localdata --with-mpfr=/localdata --with-ppl=/localdata --with-cloog=/localdata --enable-version-specific-runtime-libs make and nothing out of the ordinary. > or specify your host compiler version.
