ok -- except that I've been using the 4.0.0 branch for months. I successfully built (and used) gcc-core from SVN on all these dates: 20080802, 20080817, 20080913, 20080921, 20081012, 20081019, 20081026, 20081109, 20081115, 20081116, and 20081123.
