Or better, yes, they are used in LTCXXCOMPILE but there a few -L... switches shouldn't make any difference, so you could use CXX_FOR_LIB also in LTCXXCOMPILE (and the same holds for generation of PCH files). At this point, $(CXX) would be unused, and you can simplify things a lot.
