Still a frontend only issue.  At -O2 we have

 parser                :  13.57 (85%) usr   0.62 (58%) sys  14.08 (83%) wall 
536975 kB (90%) ggc
 TOTAL                 :  15.91             1.07            17.00            
595601 kB

and virtual memory peaks at 370MB.
