You can patch GL/glu.h as e.g. #ifdef __cplusplus typedef void (*_GLUfuncptr)(void); #else typedef GLvoid (*_GLUfuncptr)(GLvoid); #endif I'm assuming that the line that now fails to compile in C++ is still valid C.
