This patch fixes the ICE, and I agree it's the right thing to do. I retested your other patch from scratch (the one to decl.c) and it doesn't fix the double-error problem. Maybe your forgot some part of it? -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=31251
