This works for me with "4.2.0 20061204" and "4.3.0 20070122":
[EMAIL PROTECTED] pr30567]$ ~/gcc-4.2/bin/g++ -O3 -fPIC dbg.cpp
[EMAIL PROTECTED] pr30567]$ !./
./a.out
1
