Certainly, that's a bad bug and has to be avoided at all (the fact that this may not work correctly now is clear: libtool does not yet fully support what I outlined). Where was I talking about the desire to have run paths in *installed programs* pointing *to the build tree* though? Maybe my notation was bad: a relinked-upon-execution executable is some program .libs/lt-foo inside the build tree that gets created when foo is executed; foo is a shell script that does this.
