Here's an example which triggers the warning (or lack thereof) we ran into. Also, for the record this is gcc from Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" on x86, $ gcc --version gcc (GCC) 4.0.2 20050808 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.1-4ubuntu9) -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25504
