OK.  This may be a regression.  I accidently used the wrong gfortran
compilers.  I need to find my newest builds and run some more tests.

troutmask:sgk[242] gfc41 --version
GNU Fortran 95 (GCC 4.1.0 20050610 (experimental))

troutmask:sgk[243] gfc40 --version
GNU Fortran 95 (GCC 4.0.1 20050527 (prerelease))
