It was very enterprising to read the mails of Joy and Pawan. Let me venture to put in what I feel (of course with everyone’s kind permission). May I………….. It is generally felt that gays are only sex oriented, I too felt the same until I really thought about the whole issue of being gay. I had the feeling that no wonder people look down upon gays because of this. Well "Sex" is a biological need of a living entity like hunger for food thirst for water, to sleep, similarly sex is a biological need. There is nothing wrong about feeling the need for sex since it is simply meant to be there by nature. The need for the above varies from person to person some need more some need less. As can be seen from the capacity to sleep eat etc. etc. Now to say only gays are sex oriented is very wrong. Since society very stubbornly only accepts hetro liasons so it is ok to say that so and so is a womeniser. Sex is a natural state. Its a very person specific thing not a inclinaiton specific one. The other fact being for long there was no platform for gays to interact or approach other gays I mean for more meaningful purposes. Hetros are so sure of getting as partner may it be for emotional requirements or sexual. Would any newspaper accept an advertisement from a gay in its matrimonial column? If parents know the inclination of their child will they initiate to look for a life partner for the gay child? NO it is not thought of at all. This (sex) was the only mean available to interact and express one’s self. People depended on clandestine chances to fulfill themselves. No one (including the gays) believed that gays could have a more meaningful relationship or could form a wholesome normal family or that they needed emotional stability also But now that is changing such groups as GB, BD etc have given the platform for people (by organizing events parties) to come together and interact and find compatible partners. There is more awareness. The need is to accept ourselves and rid us of any kind of guilt, our needs are like any one else’s our outlook towards life and our need or the level of need for fulfillment are not yard sticks or our being base or good. It’s to do with mother nature J . Please forgive me any errors :) but this is what I feel. |
