Right. You don't need the cd. All  the discs are used for is
delivering the media to you. I copied my copies of the Bavisoft games
to an external harddrive, and honestly can't remember were the
original discs when to. The time these games were created hard drives
etc were much much smaller. Maybe 20 GB tops. So it makes sense that
you'd want to keep the setup on a physical media like a cd. However,
now days with 2 TB drives keeping cds around sounds a bit silly.

Oh, and no you don't have to modify any ini files. Just copy them to a
directory on your thumb ddrive, external hard drive, click setup, and
install it. No modifications necessary.
