Hi guys,

In case you are wondering about the complete silence of me and Sander of
AudioGames.net: we are currently very busy with our PhD's. But slowly the
results begin to show. Last week Gamasutra.com published an article written by
me and Sander about a framework for game audio. You can find it here:

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3509/ieza_a_framework_for_game_audio.php

We developed the framework some years ago but it is still 'a work in progress',
so to speak. So any feedback/comment/critique is very much appreciated :) We
would really like the developers here to have a look at it since we are of the
opinion this framework can help with the design of the auditory environment of
audio games. In short, the framework divides the auditory game environment in
four categories, each with their unique proporties. The framework basically
applies to all games with sound, so video games and audio games alike. Since
the Gamasutra.com website does not provide an alt-attribute to the illustration
on page two of the article, here's a description of the illustration (of the
framework):

The framework consists of 2 lines that are crossing, basically making a 2x2
grid with 4 squares in total. The right bottom square is titled Interface, the
right top square is titles Effect (with an E), the left top square is titled
Zone and the left bottom square is titled Affect (with an A), like so:

(without visual lines)

ZE
AI

(with visual lines)

Z | E
-------
A | I

The vertical line divides Zone and Affect from Effect and Interface. The
horizontal line divides Zone and Effect from Affect and Interface. For the
explanation of this all, please read the article ;)

Sincerely,

Richard
