I am not sure how realistic getting a screen reader to read the code for you will be because the code is basically a graphic. You need an ocr package to do this. And unless screen readers get into the ocr feature base, I don't see this as a happening thing. As difficult as this may be, getting the web site admins to add an alternative is the best way to go. It can obviously be done, it's just a matter of educating the ignorant out there.
