Hi everyone. I'm not wearing my co-moderator hat right now and don't wish to do so for this message, hence the lack of a moderator word in the subject line. I would just like to point out the following suggestions when replying or writing a new message on this list.
1. Asking about a current topic. We all do this, and I'm no exception. A topic comes up on the list and we either miss the first few messages, or we are just not interested in it. Then, suddenly, we find that hey, this topic is interesting after all. Instead of asking, what are you talking about? Or what is the place to get this, you should consider that if the topic has already been going on for a bit, chances are that someone already posted the links or the needed information which you are asking for. This is why the list archives are helpful. If you find that you are interested in a topic whose messages you have accidentally erased, or just missed out on. go to the list archive and do a search. Believe me, you will save yourself having to write a message asking for information which is already on the list, and you will get the information a lot sooner than waiting for someone to reply back with duplicate information. The list archive is very easy to use and as long as it's free to us, why not use it? What prompted this suggestion is the recent flight simulator discussion. A few people asked about things which were already mentioned. 2. Asking where things can be found. Another good way of finding things on the internet is by www.google.com or www.yahoo.com, or any other place, although Google is my favorite. If you want to know where something is, then use Google. Believe me, in most cases by typing in specific key words, you will find what you are looking for. If it's game related, search our archives, if your answer is not there, search Google. 3. /wears co-moderator hat. Please trim your messages. Recently I've denied several great posts because their content was too long. If you are replying to a message in regards to what someone said, just quote their stuff, or paraphrase. /removes co-moderator's hat. That's all for now everyone. -- Raul A.
