Hi Ryan,
Yeah, I guess now that I think of it in many of the Lucas Arts games
blinding could be used by either side. I know in Mysteries of the Sith
while playing Mara Jade I could use blinding to escape from the Rancor,
dianogas, and other animals when my saber and other weapons were
inoperative.
In Mysteries of the Sith there was one level where Mara Jade was
captured, jailed, and Ca'Pa the Hutt's guards disarmed her.
the Object of that level was to escape the cell block. Well, even after
you figured your way out of the cell down the hull from you was the
Rancors den and without weapons the Rancor was a pretty tough foe. You'd
have to defeat him by Force skill alone.
Unless of course you were really smart used Force speed to get around
behind him, speed down the hull, found your Saber in a weapons lockup
beyond a metal gate, called it to yor hand, turned and cut down the
rampaging Rancor.
Anyway, point was I always felt blinding the Rancor to make your escape
was the best solution. At least until you managed to find your saber,
and then could use it to finish him off.
However, later in the game when you had to fight the Mara Jade clone the
clone used blinding as a dark side power.
