Well try help in the game? just type h e l p and it should tell you about
the help system.
To be honest I'm a tad confused why you are running into so much trouble,
indeed I wonder if your client is typing the commands correctly, most muds
are fairly streight forward on getting started and basic things like using
the chat and where to find help.
