I've also heard that silent gear has sound effects, though I've not tried
that one as the writeup about America saving the world from the evil islamic
commy nazi fashist super power sort of put me off, ---- though apparently
it's a good game and has sfx.
As with muds though, these games are interactive stories, and story! is the
operative word.
Fate haven, Samurai Hyuga, Zombie exodus and Mecha ace (to name a few
favourites), are amazingly good stories with great characters and awesome
writing, and some good choices about what you do, which is what counts.
Beware the grue!
