Hi. This is a very interesting one which people will like. As anyone who knows their epic myths will recognize, Grendel's cave is a game where you take on the role of a viking thein trying to kill the legendary beast Grendel. Originally, the game had graphics to click on, some people did play with jaws through clicking on incomprehensible graphic names (though sinse they weren't standard mpg or jpgs they were pretty ahrd to find), however the game wasn't really accessible., but out of the blue the developer (as you might guess called beowulf), turned up on audiogames.net. He's labeled every single in game graphic, meaning that you now can just click on text, for example to leave the initial hall where you start just click on the "door" Alternatively, you can change the game to a mud style interface, where instead of using a dropdown box for your actions and clicking on stuff, you type in commands. As to the game itself, the object is to slay grendel, through completing lots of quests (you can also try to kill grendel's mother and the dragon as well). There are various different kingdoms to play in with different pvp settings, and different rates according to death (this is a game where you really can die in one hit). The really cool thing is that combat in the game is detailed and features distance, and weapon range, so you can for example hold a spear in one hand while the monster is far away, then switch to attacking with a sword in your other hand when the enemy gets close, or attack the enemy when it's far away, then leave the room and return and hit again. The game is absolutely free to play with all content free, however there is an in game currency, lives which cost 50 cents each. These can be used for things like protecting your thein from death each day (sinse other than in the newbie kind kingdom the game has perminant death), bying a room at the in, creating more powerful theins to start with, and various other things. It'll definitely be getting a db page, indeed the developer is anxious that people in the accessible games community know about the game (which given the great work he's done on making the thing accessible is fare enough). So, enjoy! All the best, Dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ [email protected] If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [email protected].
