Hi Dark,

Well, the thing is, and here is my over all point, there are actual
benefits in upgrading. Even if you refuse to consider them
benefits.They exist.

Take security for example. The older an OS it is the morechances a
cracker or virus maker has to discover its weaknesses and can exploit
them. When Microsoft stops making their critical updates XP will be
fair game for every virus and cracker in the known universe. Maybe you
will be one of the people exploited, maybe not, but its an unnecessary
risk you are taking by not updating to a newer and hopefully more
secure operating system. So in terms of security alone there is some
benefit in upgrading.

Take User Account Control. I know a lot of people don't like it, think
it is a pain in the butt, but it helps safeguard your PC from viruses
and other malware by informing you if a program is trying to access
some part of your OS it should not be or doing some other action UAC
thinks is potentially dangerous. Maybe you don't care, but I do so I
use it.

The other issue is bug fixes and such. Maybe a certain bug will effect
you, maybe not, but I can see XP users not being able to get newer
updates for things like DirectX and over time that could be a big
problem. Especially, if developers such as myself begin using things
like XInput, XAudio2, and other newer components for Windows 7/8 and
the XP versions are no longer updated along with the ones for newer
platforms. So there might be some benefit in upgrading there as well.

I know for a fact you have mentioned on list many times about XP's
user accounts screwing up on you. Well, that is in part the fault of
using an older OS. I don't know of anyone running Windows 7 or Windows
8 experiencing the bugs and problems with user accounts you have
mentioned so that might be a benefit in upgrading too. The point being
is you are so certain Windows 7 and Windows 8 holds no benefit to you
that I think you are overlooking some actual benefits out of some
personal biased towards anything and everything that isn't XP. So be
it. I've said my piece. I didn't intend for this thread to go viral
like this anyway.

Cheers!
