Hi Robin,
Thanks for your input. You will be happy to know there are several that 
feel exactly the way you do, and a 3D version looks less and less likely.
However, I would like to make a pslight correction. Shades of Doom, and 
Monkey Business are not 3D games. They have 3D audio, but not a true 3D 
environment. A true 3D environment means you have a perfect cube. A left 
wall, right wall, floor, ceiling, front wall, and back wall. That is a 
total of six directions of movement. 2D games typically have 4 
directions of movement. Either front back, left, right, or up down, 
left, right.
