Hi Nicol,
Randomly the refrigeration unit will fail and need to be repaired. That is
just one of the random bad things that can happen during a trucker trip.
Your truck needs to be running for the refrigeration unit to be running, so if
you run out of gas and your truck stops running so does the refrigeration unit.
That is also why you will burn fuel while sleeping if you choose to carry
oranges. You have to leave the truck running at all times for the
refrigeration unit to run. You do not need to turn the refrigeration unit on,
it will run automatically as long as your truck is running. But if the
refrigeration unit stops running the oranges will be damaged.
