Hi Che,
yes, I am afraid you have to put Jaws to sleep manually and separately for
each application. But these are great observations. There seems to be no way
how to get directly to the game manager from the actual game, not even how
to get to the main menu from the game. Means that you cannot really save a
game currently in progress, unless I am missing something really basic.
HOwever, I've found out that you don't really need to save your current
game, unless you want to start another off-line game and keep the last one
unfinished for later play. You can just quit the game permanently and if you
then choose continue game from the manager, you'll be right where you
interrupted the game. I guess the save feature is really meant for
situations when you want to start another off-line game but finish the
current one later. In this case, you would just exit the game, then start it
again to enter the game manager and save your incomplete game. You would
then start a new game which would overwrite the current data, but as you
saved it to a separate location, you can load it later. This way you could
theoretically save as many off-line games as you want (have no experience
with online games yet) while the game itself can only keep track of just one
game session. Hope this helps.
But this brings several more possible improvements for you to think about,
Igor. What about making the game manager a separate window that needs to be
closed manually so that you would not lose it as soon as you start the game?
Or you could add a keystroke to launch the manager directly from the game
instead, or at least a key to get to the main menu. What about escape? This
is one of the most intuitive and standard things used in most accessible
games (and not just the accessible ones) nowadays. :-)
Also, by the way, would quite like either a keystroke in the actual game or
an item in the game manager (if you implement these improvements to access
the manager easier right from inside the game) to tell you how many free
planets are remaining.
Thanks. These are not meant to be flames, just constructive ideas to make
the game as atractive as possible.
Take care and best of luck,
Lukas
