Have the person to first try booting with the headphones in the USB. Then try playing the game. I found with USB ports that Jaws will switch oover to the USB and other things that do do through the sound card will still be going through the speakers. Good chances that the person is booting with the phones plugged in. It then sounds that the setup may not be done correctly when installing any sound drivers. Lastly do the reverse, do not boot with the phones in the slot. Do what you need to get the game up and then plug in the phones.
