Hi Richard. You mean you don't want to tell me the fact that your computer name is:
gadolum18z9hrn And your ip address at the time of writing the message I'm replying to was: 66.28.173.201 Hmm, how about that for security? As others have said, visiting any web site, writing any email, anything which involves a connection to the Internet results in people knowing your IP address. Can I get personal information from that? Not just on that information. There are some who put their ssn as their computer name and this is bad bad bad. In short, just having your ip address known is not a problem. Someone suggested in getting a dynamic hosting service like no-ip.org or dyndns.org. While this is a good suggestion. I think it was made for the wrong reason. Using services like dyndns.org or no-ip.org are to make it easy to reach you like when hosting a game, they are not designed to hide your ip address. All these services will do is make it so I can type something like: rbennett.dyndns.org to connect to a game you might be hosting. In this example the hostname above would resolve to the ip: 66.28.173.201 So you see, it's not hiding your ip address. In short, it's ok to give out your ip address, hope this answers your questions and concerns.
