You may license any IP address you choose to license.
As long as this IP address is associated with a network interface which
is configured up and has link, the license will be valid.
A primary IP address is the IP address that resolves to the system name.
If your firewall's primary name is fwA, and you associate fwA with an
IP address in the /etc/hosts file, then this IP address becomes the primary
IP address.
The primary IP address must be routeable from the Internet. This is why the
external
interface often supports the primary IP address. If, however, an internal
interface supports
a routeable IP address, then it could be the primary IP address.
In summary, if you license your external IP address and this IP address
resolves to the system name of the firewall, then all features of your
configuration
will work and the world will be a better place. :-)
