Yes, fvwm should work just fine on Centos 6. You must not be looking in the correct spot. Check github and fvwm.org. Fvwm is mostly in maintenance mode, and commits are mostly bug fixes. The project hasn't seen much new development in a while, but it is still active and a stable window manager. It should run just fine on CentOS. > - Is the mailing list public?
