I know it's been a while now, but I don't read the list regularly... The described behavior sounds very close to what I started experiencing with SeaMonkey 2.10 (corresponds to Firefox 13) and have been dealing with ever since. Back then I opened a Mozilla bug but it got little attention. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=770393 What fixed the problem for me was the attached patch in that bug (using GDK_CURRENT_TIME in nsWindow::GrabPointer). This reverts the "annoying" part of the fix for https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500081, which I suspected being the issue. It's of little help though as most of the time I don't use my own compiled Firefoxes. So -- not 100% sure it's the same issue but it sounds close enough.
