Just for info, OpenOffice and LibreOffice also do not work with metacity, windowmaker and all the other non-KDE/non-Gnome wm's available with OpenSuSE 11.3. Not here, at least. So it's not a problem with fvwm. I'm fairly certain the problem lies with OpenOffice/LibreOffice or more likely with the SuSE versions.
