How is this wrong?  I thought the whole point of Xinerama was to
combine two or more actual screens into a single virtual screen.

Of course, if two screens of different height are joined left-right
-- or different width joined top-bottom -- there's going to be a
rectangle of the virtual screen that does not exist on either actual
screen, hence the original question of how to tell FVWM to block out
that area.
