I like the Bitstream Vera family very much. The only thing I don't like is that the bold versions are "too bold". Googling a little, shows that this is a freetype issue and not specific to my favourite fonts :). GI -- Failure is not an option. It comes packaged with every bundle of Microsoft Software.
