Well, Sage seems to be smart. I have installed sage via apt-get in ubuntu 18.04 and no sage package for fricas is installed.

When I type

integrate(sin(x),x,algorithm='fricas')

it gives an error if the fricas script was not in the PATH when I started sage. Otherwise after calling "integrate" there is then a fricas process running which points to the path where I installed an sbcl fricas.
