I can't tell if you're arguing against my point or with it. 8^D My point was there is likely hidden information inside the Recursive Self-Depravity process, information that is not yet encoded into the model. For example, when a neurotic writer kneads and kneads, forever, their manuscript. And that process only stops when they die. Then some dork somewhere discovers and publishes it.
Apropos of Toole's Confederacy of Dunces <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Confederacy_of_Dunces>, and Toole himself?   I guess he didn't knead unto death but possibly died as a consequence of his over-kneading?
It may *seem* obvious that, say, porn, alcohol, or heroin addiction are benefit-less costs.

Watching 500+ balloons launching and lazing over ABQ (on TV) today (we faiiled to launch ourselves at O-Dark-Thirty to go watch in person)  lead me to reflect on the huge amount of latent talent, skill, effort, resources first-worlders  maintain (consume?) in what to many seems like self-flagellating narcissistic self-indulgence.   It converged, however on my recent maunderings on reserved agency, optionality, and provisional coherence, variations on possible/plausible/probable logics.

When the world goes to Hell in a Hamburger Basket (abruptly or in a long slow spinout like what it feels like we are already in, unless we are in the Donbas or Gaza City) it seems as if there might be huge latent capacity/resources unlocked by the new affordance landscape convolved with the competencies these seemingly wasteful/inane activities/hobbies represent?
