de-escalating". I saw that part of her message as the kind of
non-apology apology you see from "canceled" people.
I do recognize that co-signal, and I AM prone to this kind of
excuse-making "generosity" in the attempt myself to de-escalate in a
rhetorical economy of blame->shame->guilt ...
It was (empty) rhetorical cover from actually considering Palestinian
victims, especially the innocents systematically eradicated by
Israel's *systemic* methods ... those methods traumatizing not only
brown people, but the very Israelis executing the methods.
yes, there is a superficial rhetorical layer (many layers) which provide
some social shear-force relief which can be useful as "social
lubrication" can but it can also be enabling unto the mess we are in today.
As with the so very stupid rhetoric around "socialism" in our US
election cycle, the distinction is about systemic infrastructure
(class, policy/procedure/orders) versus individual experience(s), not
left-right, liberal-conservative, acceleration-doomer. Some of us cogs
in the machine exhibit our free wi[ggl|l]l[e] more enthusiastically
than others of us.
While I may have parsed much of the political rhetoric of my youth
(teens-50s) in my own idiosyncratic mode, I find most of that rhetoric
is virtually without grounding/meaning/traction except perhaps as
disruptive?
Humans have struggled/aspired/suffered to become collectively colony
creatures for >10k years. A colony of zooids...or perhaps the slime-mold
alternative you often invoke.
