I applaud Bernie for talking to idiots like Rogan on a regular basis. But what does he actually think he's achieving? When your interlocutor is a memory-less LLM who takes zero responsibility for the sh¡t he says, will forget the last conversation, and engages in the most fantastical bullshit as if it were reasonable, what progress will Bernie make?
E.g. Drew does a good job of showing us Rogan's ... ahem ... commitment to reality: Joe Rogan’s Lies Just Destroyed Public Schools In Texas https://youtu.be/sJO_xCw35WI?si=5zr2NGFAGvTQagfM Bernie can flap his gums at such idiots till the cows come home. But it won't do any good. The problem with communication is the illusion that it exists. On 6/26/25 1:00 AM, Pieter Steenekamp wrote:
I really enjoyed Joe Rogan’s chat with Bernie Sanders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYVzme2fybU <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYVzme2fybU> Full honesty: I think Bernie’s a genuinely good guy — and let’s face it, that’s a rare species in politics. That said, I’m not totally sold on his “top-down” fix-everything approach. Government has its place, for sure — but I’d feel better if the person calling the shots had a bit more understanding of how complex systems evolve... and how trying to fix one thing can accidentally break three others. Still, Bernie makes some strong points and highlights real problems we shouldn’t ignore. So yes, I’m a fan — just not the screaming, flag-waving kind. More like a nodding-along, “fair enough” kind of fan.
