Thanks for your concern, Jochen. We live in Culver City, which is just south of Beverly Hills. Geographically, it seems to be somewhat protected from the winds. Our max wind hasn't been above 20mph--which still seems quite strong!
When I got out of bed this morning, the sky was very smokey. I wore a Covid mask to walk the dogs--even though it wasn't particularly smokey at ground level. Most notable was that the light of day was pretty orange. Debora said it looked like the edge of cataclysm. Given the election that seems appropriate! Is anyone planning to go to IACAP this summer? It's at U of Twente, NL. Even though I'm retired, I'm about to teach a class on the state of AI. There is so much to talk about I'm thinking of submitting my syllabus to IACAP as a proposed paper. (I'm not optimistic they'll go for it.) It's due in a week. We'll see.
