FWIW, I mostly think of mathematics as living somewhere between fine art and liberal art. To the extent that mathematical structures are things, I enjoy comparing them, finding analogies between them, and describing the world with them. I prefer to leave *answers* to the scientists and instead continue to focus on developing perceptual acuity through my mathematical practice.
