Bernie Sanders was a classmate of mine at the University of Chicago where he was actively engaged in left-wing politics. I also spoke with him at our 50th reunion in June. To my mind he is about as far to the left as you can get and still get elected...even in Vermont. Regardless of the article I think his commitment to the poor is sincere. But I don't see him manning the barricades in Nick's revolutionary movement. No dictatorship of the proletariat from him.
