Thanks, everyone! We were featured in the Top 5 Online TIME list under the category Holographic Mapping. Simtable is only holographic-like as it is projection on a physical 3D medium of sand. In the print version they featured Zebra Imaging based on the PR around their recent completion of a 5-year DARPA grant. I've seen their prints and they are quite stunning : http://www.zebraimaging.com/products/motion-displays
The goal of the DARPA grant was to make realtime interactive 3D holograms. >From what I could glean from there site, I don't think they are quite there yet as I think their holograms are still just static. Does anyone have more info on their approach and better info on the state of their technology? Folks should know the senders of this email, Rebecca Deem and Fred Unterseher are premiere holographers on the world stage and we're lucky they're in Santa Fe. They are part of a mini-holography community that also includes Augie Muth, whom many of you have enjoyed his work in person. Steve Smith have been working within this community over the years to realize alternative approaches to interactive Holograms. I'm unclear to the technical specifics of the different approaches on the horizon, but I think it make a great lecture series at SF_X.
