Bump. .. but I thought I'd let folks know that I've gotten rid of these annoying phishing on my system. As mentioned before, simply not using gmail's UI will do it, just use gmail as any other IMAP system.
Naturally it'd be best to use a sys-admin solution. But the solution I've started to use is Minimalist, a fantastic chrome extension http://goo.gl/xVtuu .. which has now been generalized so that it can be used to "minimize" *any* web page! So if you'd like to amplify your use of web apps, especially in the google ecology, I highly recommend this. The snippet I used was: .ac7, .ac9 { display: none; } .. but you have to know a bit how minimalist works to install this into the gmail module.
