Thanks for the hint.

Resolution from the mentioned KCS: On the main IPA server, check the 
Distributed Numeric Assignment (DNA) ranges assigned to existing IPA servers.

I assume we have a "chicken-egg" problem here.
- The installation fails due to missing DNA range
- I can't assign DNA ranges on the main server to a replica that is not 
installed

Shouldn't the installer set the DNA ranges for a new replica?
