I used an external USB floppy drive with FreeDOS on an HP NC6120 after enabling the Legacy USB BIOS option. What works ========== It can boot, format, and write a floppy. What doesn't work ================= It cannot use the drive after ejecting the disk. So it cannot be used with sets of floppy disks. Some models of USB floppy drives have trouble writing disks that will work reliably when inserted into normal floppy drives. Older models work better in this regard. I vaguely recall reading a tip to select drives manufactured prior to 2006. <https://www.reddit.com/r/vintagecomputing/comments/tn77lk/ reliable_35_usb_floppy_drives/> Old media are more prone to errors. I recommend keeping checksums or hashes for verification. _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
