Yes. Update V8Power Tools. You can fetch the latest version the FreeDOS package from: * The Official FreeDOS GitLab Archive (Staging area for all FreeDOS packages): https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/util/v8power/-/releases <https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/util/v8power/-/releases> * The Official FreeDOS Software Download Repository for latest update packages: https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/pkg-html/v8power.html <https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/pkg-html/v8power.html> * My Software Download Repository dedicated to FreeDOS packages: https://fd.lod.bz/repos/current/pkg-html/v8power.html <https://fd.lod.bz/repos/current/pkg-html/v8power.html> * The Official home of the V8Power Tools development repository (no binaries, will require NASM 2.16 to build from source): https://github.com/LoopZ/V8Power <https://github.com/LoopZ/V8Power> That being said, here is a little more information… V8Power Tools’ VINFO program is used by the FreeDOS networking scripts to determine if the machine is a supported Virtual Platform. The latest version of VirtualBox updated the BIOS in such a way that it is no longer detectable by the version of VINFO included with FreeDOS 1.3. That program has been updated to recognize both the older and newer BIOS in VirtualBox. As long as the new version of VirtualBox will continue to work with the existing packet drivers provided in the FDNET package, you should be able to perform the update to from FreeDOS itself. In the tests I haver performed regarding networking, the only issue I saw was the detection of the new VirtualBox BIOS. Once V8Power Tools is updated, it “should” work correctly again. Here is how: * Run “FDNET.BAT try” ... It will bypass the hardware restriction and try to bring up networking anyway. * Run “FDINST update v8power” ... As long as you have not modified your FDNPKG.CFG file manually, it should connect to the Official Download Repository and update the package. * Reboot … VirtualBox should be detected and networking should start. If you have issues updating the package, you may need to download it manually. If so, just unzip it and copy the BIN\*.COM files into the \FreeDOS\BIN directory. :-) Jerome > > > _______________________________________________ > Freedos-user mailing list > Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
