Just out of sheer pathological curiosity, could you find out the USB ID's of the TS controller? I.e. plug it into Windows and go to Device Manager to find the Hardware ID's, or plug it into Linux and try an lsusb -v. I faintly recall that one historical generation of PenMount controllers had both USB and Serial interfaces.
