Hi all, The state of NLS translations was a bit of a mess and is in a sorry state. Numerous programs (even BASE) that support NLS have few or none of the additional 28 total different languages (excluding english) that I have seen for FreeDOS packages. For example, MORE only has help in English. Yet, It has 16 different language translation files for it's strings and 3 of those have Index/key mismatches (missing or extra resource entries).
Anyhow... If you were unaware or as just a reminder, I have gathered all of the NLS translation files into a single GitHub repository to help me manage all of the translation submissions I have received for my own and other programs. I have also integrated the latest translations that were on freedos-local.sourceforge.net and all of the packages on the official software repository. The repo should contain ALL language files for ALL programs that support some sort of NLS. If I missed any, please feel free to issue a pull request containing the missing files. If you can perform translations, please consider submitting updates to the https://github.com/shidel/fd-nls <https://github.com/shidel/fd-nls> project. You may wish to take a look at the https://github.com/shidel/fd-nls/blob/master/report.txt <https://github.com/shidel/fd-nls/blob/master/report.txt> file. While not perfect and can still use more work, the script that creates the report does generate some useful information. The results may assist in finding files that need translated or updated. Please note that if a program contains any translations for a language, it will appear in the list for that language even if that program could have additional files that may not exist. For example: **more** contains basic NLS translations for Turkish, however there is no Turkish translation for the more help screen. Also, the script only does a key/index level comparison on translation files in the normal or one of my file formats (stuff like “0.1:”, “2.0=“, “TITLE=“, etc). So, NLS files in xml, plain text or other formats only get timestamp checked. It does not report non-existing translation files either. On a slight side note, we have decided to postpone FreeDOS 1.3-Final for a little while. With several major updates to core packages a possibility (like maybe a new kernel) in the near future and the high level of activity to provide more and improved language translations, we agreed we should wait in favor of a 1.3-RC4 release that contains those improvements. Thanks, Jerome
