Joseph:

I always wanted to try QEMU, but, never could figure out the serial stuff.

I have an old heart-rate monitor. Its receiver/watch requires DOS serial connection for downloading to a computer.

When my old DOS palmtop died, I needed to arrange DOS serial. But there was no way I could get that working on my regular PC, to the satisfaction of the old DOS heart-monitor software.

Eventually I installed FreeDOS on an ancient 32-bit tower-PC that had a hardware serial port. They work fine together now. I download data from the monitor's-receiver via the PC's serial port. Then using FreeDOS, I save the DOS-monitor-software's data file to a USB-stick. Which I then physically-transfer to my regular/64-bit Linux PC.
