Actually I am also curious to know what mechanism you will be using to limit access to internal hard drives. (I suppose it should be possible to use LASTDRIVE= in a config.sys file to make the hard drives invisible from DOS's view. But the hard drives will most likely still show up if a program looks for them through the BIOS.)
Hiding and protection of the drives is handled by the CD boot loader SYSLINUX / MEMDISK. It is a simple option for configuration of menu that appears when the disc is booted. It does however work and when activated prevents FreeDOS from seeing or access the internal drives(s). For all purposes, drive C: no longer exists and won’t reappear until the system is rebooted.
